A Bedroom Furniture Removal Checklist

An inventory and access worksheet for dressers, nightstands, mirrors, and mixed bedroom loads.

A good pickup plan answers the practical questions before anyone starts lifting. Use this guide to check the item, the route, and any local program rules that may apply.

Inventory every piece

List dressers, nightstands, chests, freestanding headboards, benches, mirrors, lamps, and loose bed parts. Count each piece rather than calling it “a bedroom set.”

Empty and secure

Remove clothing and personal items. Tell the pickup team about glass, mirrors, loose drawers, damaged joints, or unstable pieces.

Measure the route

Record doorway width, stairs, tight corners, elevator dimensions, and carrying distance. Note if doors or railings can be safely removed only by an appropriate person.

Confirm what stays

Label furniture that remains in the home. If a bed is being replaced, separate the new components from the items intended for removal.

Quick check

  • Every item is listed separately.
  • The carrying route and parking are described.
  • Condition issues are disclosed before pickup.
  • Building or municipal rules are checked at the source.

Sources and next step

California program details were checked against CalRecycle and Bye Bye Mattress on October 12, 2026. Local rules change, so confirm them with the responsible city or hauler.
